The Director General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA), Dr. Osanyintolu Oke Oluwafemi has paid an August visit to the council chairman of Ifako-Ijaye LGC, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke in his Ijaye-Ogba office.

Osanyintolu, who paid unscheldule visit to the council, was received by the chairman and other management team.

Among members of LASEMA team include Engr. Olatunde Akinsanya, Mrs Oshifesan, Head Admin and HR and others.

The LASEMA crew carried out a Motorised Campaign exercise to locate flood-prone areas and sensitise the people of Ifako-Ijaiye on emergency management.

Osanyintolu advised the council chairman on the need to get biometrics data of the people in his local government for proper tracking and effective response in times of emergencies.

The LASEMA boss called on the council to set up a 25-man Emergency Committee, that will be responsible for the co-ordination of activities in the prevention, prompt and adequate management of disasters in the LGA.

Akinsanya said the reason for the emphatical enlightenment campaign exercise is to put on a proactive measure following predictions of likely flood incidents in areas with concentrated valleys as the second part of the rainy season approaches.

He appealed to the chairman to organise an urgent meeting with stakeholders and appropriate quarters so as to disseminate the information to them.

In response, the LG boss, Apostle Dr. Oloruntoba Oke, commended the efforts and brilliant initiative of the governor to sensitize the community before time on issues bordering on environment.

He promised to convey the agency’s message to the leadership of Ifako-ijaiye community(both CDCs and CDAs) and hold a meeting with them so as to inform them of the essence of LASEMA’s visit.

He commended the ceaseless efforts of the Department of Environment in disilting drainages and carting away of dirt in the community from time to time.
