COVID -19: Opajobi,Religious leaders laud Gov. Sanwoolu effort on palliatives

Religious leaders and community leaders in Ifako-Ijaye Local government Area have heaped praises on the step taking so far by the Lagos state government under the leadership of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reduce the pains of Lagosians at this critical period.

Chairman of Ifako-Ijaye Community Development Committee, Pastor Olu Opajobi, thanked the governor for the palliative measures so far to cushion the effect of staying at home order following the lockdown of the State by the federal government to contain the pandemic in the States mostly affected namely Lagos, Ogun and FCT, Abuja.

He added that though the quantity brought by the commissioner were not enough for the community but the packages would be shared among the CDAs, while hoping that subsequent packages would meet the need of other members, who could not have it now.

In the same vein, Ahaji Orire Oyedeji, the head of the Muslim community in Ifako-Ijaye, who also lauded the state governor’s effort said the religious leaders have been praying to God to cancel the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oyedeji who believes God knew about the pandemic, which he attributed to sins, begged God to forgive humanity for this deadly pandemic.

Also in his own reaction, the coordinator of the Christian community, Messenger Prophet Olubode Sofola, called on the people to have faith in God while castigating government for the way Nigerians have been maltreated when it comes to emergency intervention.

He, however, praised the governor for the quick initiative in the distribution of the packages in Ifako-Ijaye LGA.

In an interview with the Lagos State Commissioner of Physical and Urban Planning, Mr. Idris Salako, who handed over the first phase of the stimuli package last recently named the beneficiaries to include community leaders, religious leaders and disable members of the society, adding that more of the packages should still be expected to take of the vulnerable people in the society.

He praised the proactive steps taken by the governor to tackle the pandemic, which the commissioner proudly said has received praises both home and abroad.
