The Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) has unveiled its maiden security news magazine, NAOSNP LENS.
Apart from the unveiling of the magazine, the association also organised a one-day workshop in security reporting for media practitioners.
The event, which took place at the Golden Gate, Ikoyi Island, Lagos was well attended by various security and para security outfits such as the Nigerian Army, the police , FRSC, para security experts and media practitioners.
In their separate responses while presenting the 48-page magazine to the public, the guests of honour including the representative of AIG Adeleke Bode, SP Ibrahim Bakare; Public Relations Officer, 9 Brigade, Major AK Bello; Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), ASC1 Seun Abolurin, Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi; Founder, Journalist NG, Mr. Oba Adeoye, CEO, Badinson Security, Mr. Matthew Ibadin and ICT Expert, Tunji Makanjuola, lauded the NAOSNP for organising the workshop to train journalists at this critical time the country was experiencing insecurity and needed positive reports.
They urged security publishers to guide against reporting fake news to douse any tension, they said such reports would not augur well for the good image of the country to the outside world.
While describing the association to have come of age, breaking barriers and living above board in the world of well-researched journalism and security reportage, they advised journalists to always put the country in mind when reporting sensitive security matters.
Speaking on the magazine, the Public Relations Officer of the Association, who doubles as the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, Mr. Eric Elezuo, said the production is a consequence of dedication, commitment, hard work and the can-do attitude which members of NAOSNP are known for.
“In NAOSNP, we are known for doggedness, dedication and can-do syndrome, and those have propelled the production of this great magazine. It is a great step towards our destination of being the best in the industry, and there is no looking back,” Elezuo said.
In his remarks, the President of the Association, Mr. Samson Oki, said what happened on that day was the bringing to light of a long-held dream; a dream come true, noting the unflinching efforts of the members of the association combined to make the magazine a reality.
“This is the beginning, and we are not resting on our oars,” Oki enthused.
The magazine, a 48-page security reference has the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Usman Baba, on the cover as he celebrates his one year in office with verifiable landmarks across the nation.
