A call has gone to President Muhammad Buhari to fasten his assent on the legalisation of community policing bill, which the National Assembly has passed.
This view was made by Ogun State commandant of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, while fielding questions from journalists recently.
He noted that the VGN has contributed a lot towards improving or effectively controlling crime in the country such as kidnappings, armed robbery and other crimes.
The body, which is set up to compliment the efforts of the police in tackling internal security of a state, will further enhance policing their different environments.
According to Ogun State Commandant of VGN, Mr. Adedoyin Nureni Olanrewaju believes only natives of an area know the length and breadth of their environment and would be better to meet the needs of community policing in their various states.
