COMMUNITY HONOURS TOBA WITH AWARDS AS HE INAUGURATES IKEJA ELECTRIC’S OBAWOLE INJECTION SUBSTATION

Friday July 19, 2019 would forever be remembered by the residents of Obawole community as they witnessed the official commissioning of 15 MVA Obawole injection substation put in place by Ikeja Electric in their community. The project costs N500 million.
The occasion was witnessed by who is who in the community.
Among the dignitaries are the number one figure in the local government, who is incidentally a resident of the area, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, Oba of Ifako, Oba Taofeek Oyeyinka Fatusi, CDC chairman, Alhaji A Onifade, host chairman, Pastor Opajobi, officials of Ikeja Electric led by its CEO, Dr. Anthony Youdwei; Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Folake Soetan; Abule Egba Business Unit Manager, Mr. Oloyede Adelakun.
Other dignitaries that witnessed the occasion are members of the Legislative Arm, led by its Leader, Hon. Abiodun Akinola; other Executive members; Secretary to the Local Government, Pastor Ayo Jeje and Council Manager, Mr. Ogunbambi.
Speaking at the occasion, the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Apostle (Dr.) Oloruntoba Oke, took the memory of the residents back to his first term when the project was first muted by donating a parcel of land to Ikeja Electric Company on which the substation project is sited today so as to improve electricity supply in the area and other environs.
The council chairman thanked the management of Ikeja Electric for the execution of the project in response to the age long residents outcry over poor and epileptic power supply in the area.
He appealed to the electricity distribution company to extend the project to Ifako section of the Local Government Area.
He also encouraged members of the community to see the project as their own by protecting it as well as cooperating to ensure prompt payment and offsetting debts.
Oke used the occasion to praise Obawole United Forum under the able leadership of Pastor Opajobi for their resilience and steadfastness at ensuring the dream come to reality.
While thanking the Local Government and the community for their support and cooperation the company received during the project, the Chief Executive Officer of Ikeja Electric, Dr. Anthony Youdwei, added that with the new facility in place Obawole community and environs would get 22 hours of steady power supply daily and promised yo extend the services to other areas within the council.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Business Manager, Abule-Egba Undertaking, Prince Oloyede Adelakun, thanked God for bringing to reality the promise he made to the community at the height of the agitations for improved power supply in the community.
Pastor Opajobi pleaded to the Ikeja Electric to replace all wooden electricity poles with concrete poles because they are in bad state. He equally mentioned the cable wire to be replaced with aluminium conductors.
Alhaji Onifade, CDC chairman and host chairman, Opajobi, including some baales in attendance expressed their gratitude to the council chairman and the company for the completion and commissioning of the project.
With this development, the dignitaries also commented on the increase of electric supply to 18 hours presently enjoyed in the community as against two hours before the completion of the project.
The event got to a climax as both Obawole United CDA and Obawole United Youth Forum presented separate awards to the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaye LGC, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, in recognition of his work towards the development of the community and Ifako-Ijaye as a whole.
Others who bagged awards include the Ikeja Electric CEO, Dr. Anthony Youdwei; Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Folake Soetan; Abule Egba Business Unit Manager, Mr. Oloyede Adelakun; and Chairman of Obawole United Forum, Pastor Opajobi.
