oordinator of National Identity Management Commission in Ekiti State, Mr Gbenga Ifayefunmi, has pleaded to Nigerians to get the National Identity Card, saying that its benefits made it imperative for them.
Ifayefunmi, who spoke in Ado Ekiti while presenting the ID card to Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, deputy governor described the National ID card as unique, noting, “It has lots of features which would be useful for the holder in accessing many benefits.”
He said, “For those who registered between 2012 and 2014, the cards are now ready while new registrants will get their cards within the shortest possible time with improved technology in place.”
Ifayefunmi, who urged residents to avail themselves of the opportunity of the 22 collection points in Ekiti State to collect their cards, said, “The card comes with many advantages because you will be asked to come with your National ID card before you can assess government facilities.
“It has unique numbers, social security numbers and can be used for health care, education, among others. In fact, by virtue of an Executive Order signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, you cannot obtain passport or driving licence without the National ID Card,” he said.
Egbeyemi also urged residents to endeavour to obtain the car
He said the state government would work in synergy with NIMC to sensitise citizens to the importance of registering and having their cards.
