Just about four months that the
Immediate past governor of Lagos State left the Government House, Alausa, Ikeja, he is in trouble as the anti-graft agency, EFCC, is trailing him for offences that are linked to misappropriation of funds.
The EFCC spokesperson, Tony Orilade, had confirmed to Premium Times that the former governor is under a corruption probe, few months after he left office.
The residence of Mr Ambode in his hometown of Epe was being searched as at Tuesday when Mr Orilade confirmed the development.
Also, his chief of staff, whose resident is in the same neighborhood was also being searched.
Billions of naira were allegedly misappropriated in the four years of Mr Ambode in office, and detectives have been busy trying to untangle all webs around the alleged corruption.
Recently, multiple bank accounts holding billions and linked to Ambode were frozen as part of the probe.
The former governor had denied links to both the accounts and any allegations of corruption while in office, stated Mr. Aruna, the governor’s CPS while in office.
You would recall that the commission had frozen three bank accounts containing a total sum of N9.9bn allegedly linked to the immediate past Governor of Lagos State.
