Born some 70 years ago precisely on April 17, 1949, Otunba Abayomi Micheal Ogunnusi, stands out as an accomplished man who has distinguished himself in all human endeavours. His philanthropic gestures and humility have greatly impacted in the society where he lives and even extending beyond.
It is therefore no fluke that one of the popular and busiest roads in Lagos, Nigeria – Isheri Road, now Ogunnusi Road, is named after him by the state government. This step taken by the state government is in appreciation of his numerous contributions to his locality and the state in general.
A former member of the National Assembly who represented Ifako-Ijaye Federal Constituency between 2011 and 2015, he is a dedicated and diligent Tax, Management and Financial expert with a wealth of experience spanning over 3 decades in both private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy. With his wealth of experience, he has provided consultancy services for over 25 states of the federation and about 20 companies both at local and international circles.
A thorough-bred professional with sufficient industrial experience, he is a distinguished philanthropist per excellence, who takes great pleasure in providing succour to indigents and has helped many gifted Nigerians, known and unknown to him with scholarship awards.
Never relenting towards uplifting the society, he has contributed resources for the acquisition of skills and trainings to a vast majority and also donated computers to both public and private institutions.
Besides his humanity and his philanthropic gestures, he is a patron of many humanitarian service clubs, social clubs, and religious bodies and particularly in his area of interest – politics. Some of these clubs include: Man ‘O’ War, Divine Mercy Catholic Devotion, St. Agnes Musical Society, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Island Club and ABC Club of Lagos.
Hon. Ogunnusi, who began his early education in the North, St. Luke School, Jos particularly, later proceeded to St. Peter’s Clover School at Esure Ijebu-Mushin and Odogbolu Grammar School, Igbobi College and Adeola Odutola College, Ijebu-Ode. He holds both a Bachelor and a Masters degree respectively both of the University of Lagos and University of Ibadan, where he studied Accounting and Business Administration.
He is a Fellow and member of the following bodies – Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN). He is also a member of the Association of Management Consultants, and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
He has also written many published articles in his chosen field for top Nigerian newspapers such as the Punch, The Guardian and Business Times. Besides, he has delivered papers at seminars and at every event to which he is invited.
With investments spanning across key sectors of the Nigerian economy coupled with his very noticeable and immense contributions to the society, Hon. Ogunnusi was voted overwhelmingly by his people to represent them at the Green Chamber in the year 2015. During his 4-year tenure, he delivered Dividends of Democracy to his Constituents, motivated and sponsored many of them who have chosen his field – Accounting.
Hon. Ogunnusi has worked in several places to garner experience, which has helped him to succeed and build relationship across the nation.
Today, he is sitting atop many companies spanning many sectors such as Tax Consulting, Estates, Transportation, Hospitality businesses just to mention a few. These companies have employed thousands of Nigerians to earn a living and feed their families. Among the companies he owns are Keybased Ventures Ltd (Mortgage Financing), &Ogunnusi Petroleum International Ltd, Pamela Out Door Catering Services Ltd, A.B.C Industries Ltd, Ogunnusi Transport International Limited, Pamella Kitchen Nigeria Limited, Lorneview Global Nigeria Limited and others just to mention a few.
Despite his busy schedules, Hon. Ogunnusi still finds time to belong to many reputable clubs and associations such as Island Club, Lagos; University of Lagos Senior Staff Club, and others just to mention a few.
Due to his numerous contributions to humanity, he was conferred with Chieftaincy tittles in several communities. Some of the titles are Oyathehua of Weppa-Wanno Land; Otunba Fibiwoga of Isoyin in Ijebuland and Bobagunwa of Imoruland among other chieftaincy titles.
Above all, Ogunnusi does not joke with his God as he worships regularly at one of the Catholic churches in the state, where he is an Elder.
