The fact: Governor of Ogun state Dapo Abiodun is popular in Sango, the area that Bishop David Oyedepo has approved N650m church money be used to fix bad roads.
Or rather the administration of Governor Abiodun which as an indigene – Noimat Salako Yusuf – as deputy governor enjoys good rating in the area.
The findings: The administration of governor Abiodun is focused on ‘’reconstructing’’ the potholes riddled roads that link Ogun state to Lagos in the area.
Witnesses confirmed that the administration is also trying to ease the ‘’hell’’ experience by motorists on inner roads with ‘’boulder rocks’’ in potholes that have transformed ‘’gullies’’.
The Reality: But the efforts at alleviating the suffering on the inner roads appear futile in the face of the magnitude of the rot eight years of neglect by immediate past governor Ibikunle Amosun has wrecked on the roads.
Bishop Oyedepo’s Efforts: For has long many can remember, Bishop David Oyedepo – and Winners Chapel- remains the sole keeper of the inner roads – and express roads that pass through – in the Sango area of Ogun state.
At least twice in a year, he does palliative works on the roads, especially the long stretch of Idiroko road that spans Sango underbridge to Oju Ore, Iyana Iyesi, winners and Atan and beyond. He does not leave the old toll gate section out of the repairs.
We gathered the approval of N650m for repairs is seen as just an improvement on what Oyedepo does on the road by those in the area.
Gbenga Daniel (OGD) Laid Foundation For Rot:
We gathered that, but for former governor Gbenga Daniels ‘’pettiness’’ the rot that took over the Sango inner roads wouldn’t have had a chance.
‘’It was during OGD’s tenure as Governor of Ogun state that Bishop Oyedepo attempted to execute extensive repairs of Ota roads. The fund was already approved and the machines on-site when Daniel ordered the work stopped and told Oyedepo that he would have to pay some ridiculous amount of money before he can be allowed to repair the roads. The roads that were bad and people were suffering on. But the real reason was that oppositions were feasting on Oyedepo’s initiative to label Daniel’s government as not performing, that it was the church that was fixing roads and Daniel hit back by opting to let the people suffer to look good.
He stopped the road repairs so his enemies won’t have anything to say again and the tragic humor is that Daniel didn’t do the repairs, Amosun abandoned the roads and it is the same Oyedepo who has kept it barely motorable that is about to perform the extensive repairs that would have gone down in history as done during Daniel’s administration’’ societynow.ng learned.
What They Are Saying About Abiodun: Multiple sources opined that, unlike Daniel, Governor Dapo Abiodun should not politicize the road repairs about to be undertaken by Oyedepo and see ‘’governance’’ as the contribution of all stakeholders across board towards the betterment of the people, the state.
‘’Hopefully, Abiodun will not say that Oyedepo should go and pay another unheard-of sum before he can do the repairs thereby turning himself into another Gbenga Daniel that is not loved by the grassroots around here’’ an insider stated
