31st AGM: Nigerite Staff(Ikeja) Multipurpose Co-operative Elect New Management, Declare Surplus of 13.9 Percent

Nigerite Staff (Ikeja) Co-operative Multipurpose Society Limited held her 31st Annual General Meeting AGM, at the company’s complex located in the heart of Lagos capital, Ikeja.

Declaring the meeting open, the chairman of the occasion Acting Human Resource (HR) Manager, Mr Femi Akinbode expressed his satisfaction with the cooperative society, saying that the society has continue to wax stronger haven served as President so years ago.

He urged members to continue to do their beat towards ensuring the cooperative society has more surplus for the benefit of all.

He thank the staff and management for a cordial relationship that has been existing and prayed for more prosperity of the company.

Meanwhile in his address the Director of Co-operative, Lagos state government Mrs Zulikha Ibrahim who was represented at the occasion by the Area Officer and other senior officers of the ministry commended cooperative members and management of Nigerite for making a surplus of 13.9%.

“This feet is commendable, while cooperative societies are running at deficit, Nigerite has surplus of 13.9% which is a significant increase compare to the previous years, and despite just coming out of Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is important to note that shortly after this AGM dividends shall be distributed accordingly to all members.” She concluded.

The Area officer in charge of Ikeja, with over 250 co-operative societies and the largest in Lagos state Mrs. Funmilayo Olusesi request a motion for the dissolution of the Nigerite Staff(Ikeja) co-operative multipurpose society limited.

The motion was moved by Mr. Ilesanmi Adeyemi Victor and seconded by Mr Ibiyeye Akeem.

Election for new management committee took centre stage. The electoral chairman Mr Abiona and his committee gave account of the process of election for new management committee.

“The whole offices were unopposed except the office of the Vice President where we have two members contending for the post. They are; Mr Ekunode Sunday and Mr Olanrewaju Kazeem, they shall be voted for and winners shall emerged.” He concluded.

Mrs Olusesi read out rules governing the election process and members were given ballot paper to cast their votes.

136 members were accredited while 123 members voted for their candidate of choice, 1 vote was voided due to double ticking of candidates name.

Meanwhile 122 votes was validated as Mr Sunday Ekunode polled 58 votes and Mr Kazeem Olanrewaju scored 64 votes to emerged winner.

He was well celebrated as members jubilate on the emergence of Kazeem Olanrewaju for the office Vice President of the Nigerite Staff (Ikeja) Co-operative Multipurpose Society Limited.

Speaking on the sideline of the event Mr Kazeem give glory to God and appreciate all members of the society for their votes, he promised never to let them down in the discharge of his office responsibilities.

Meanwhile Mr Ekunode was seen giving a warm embraces to the winner after the keenly contested elections.

The oath of office was administered on the new management committee by the area officer Mrs Olusesi as she congratulates them.

Meanwhile, the newly elected president Mrs Obaidu Theresa gave vote of thanks on behalf of the other executives. She call for all inclusive administration of the co-operative society while seeking cooperation of the management of the organization for a successful tenure.
