
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has indicated its readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCos , to beef up security around custodial centres in Anambra state.
According to DSC OKADIGBO EDWIN, the Commandant’s Public Relations Officer, this agreement was reached when Mr. Isidore C. Chikere , the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, visited the Controller of Corrections, Anambra State Command, Pat Chukwuemeka ,fsi, at his office in Awka in continuation of his familiarizing visit to security agencies in Anambra state recently.
The Commandant stated that the purpose of his visit was to familiarize himself with NCoS and to strengthen the existing working relationship between the two Services in order to improve internal security in the state.
Appreciating the Controller of Corrections for the warm reception accorded him, Mr Chikere pledged his unflinching support in intelligence sharing and the provision of operational support.
“My purpose of coming here today is to introduce myself to you and seek for areas we can collaborate towards improving the security of the State. Already we have an existing working relationship but my visit is to solidify and maintain the tempo. Be assured of my continuous intervention and support as much as possible in our efforts aimed at improving security challenges confronting us in the State ” he said.
Responding, Mr. Pat. Chukwuemeka fsi, the Controller of Corrections, thanked the NSCDC state Commandant for the visit and emphasized the need for the two Services to collaborate more in the smooth operation of an efficient justice system .
” I have enjoyed a cordial working relationship with NSCDC . We shall do everything possible to support our selves and collaborate with you in achieving our goal as it concerns beefing up security around custodial centres across the State” he said.
