A foundation member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State and former Chairman, Tafa Local Government Area, Ado Mohammed has dumped the party with hundreds of his supporters for the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing the defectors at the Sabon-Wuse Central primary school, the state PDP Chairman, Tanko Beji expressed appreciation to the decampees for taking the bold step towards returning Niger State to PDP.
Beji said the return of the former council Chairman to its fold is a sign of a good thing to come the way of the now opposition party in the next year’s general elections, adding that the doors of the PDP are wide open for others who feel disenchanted about the APC maladministration.
“I want to personally commend Ado Mohammed who deemed it fit to be part of the success story in 2023 with his supporters. PDP was formed on a solid foundation to accommodate everyone devoid of any sentiment to pilot the country to prosperity in the next dispensation”.
The party chairman also assured the APC defectors that PDP as a responsible political party will continue to abide by its policies geared towards giving equal rights and opportunities to all for the future assured for all Nigerians.
Also speaking, the host who is also the Deputy Governorship candidate to Isah Liman Kantigi, Samuel Gomna expressed gladness for the love people of the area have for him and the PDP by coming out in their number to embrace the PDP.
Gomna, also a one-time Chairman of Tafa Local Government Area said the crowd of APC defectors were an indication that the people have seen the difference and have resolved to go with the PDP in the 2023 general elections.
While reminding the people that the only thing for Nigerians to be relieved from the uncertainties we found ourselves is by voting out the APC and choosing candidates of their choice in order to have a better tomorrow.
In his brief remark, the former chairman and leader of the decampees, Ado Mohamed said they have decided to join PDP as the best alternative towards ensuring equity and justice as the party has proved indeed that it is a party for every Nigerian.
Ado said his years within the ruling party have not been the best for the people of the area hence the resolve to join the PDP with his supporters, adding, “The PDP with its large umbrella accommodates everyone and will still accommodate more”.
It was equally gathered that similar reception was held in honour of decampees from the ruling APC into the PDP in zone A.
