Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has blasted the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, over his recent comments.
Iyorchia has been under pressure for some time now over calls for his resignation.
In his response to the calls for his resignation, Iyorchia stated yesterday that he won’t resign because he does not see any reason to.
He said that those calling for his resignation are children who do not know how the party was founded.
Wike has been leading the call for the resignation of Iyorchia after Atiku Abubakar emerged as the presidential candidate of the party.
He argues that the top leadership positions of the party are being occupied by Northerners.
In his recent response to Iyorchia’s statement, Wike accused Iyorchia of being arrogant, adding that he was keeping quiet thinking that the crisis will be resolved, but now Iyorchia is referring to those of them who want to make sure that the party doesn’t fail as children.
In the report which was made by Daily Post, he said – “I had kept quiet thinking that we will reconcile, but since you brought arrogance to say you were elected, where did you campaign? Show me where your poster was in this state. He is telling us that we are children, a man who is inconsistent and ran away from the party, telling those of us who spent our time to make sure this party doesn’t go down, now has the audacity to tell us we are children. We will tell you, you are the prodigal father.”
With the general elections just about six months from now, the lingering crisis in PDP has been attracting concerns from social media users, with many wondering if the party will be able to put its house in order and prepare for the elections.
