As the euphoria, jubilation and excitement that greeted the nomination of Apa born erudite legal luminary Barr. Omale Omale as commissioner designate by the executive Governor of Benue state his Excellency Dr. Rev. Fr Alia and subsequent confirmation by Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh led state house of Assembly continue to burble in the sky among Apa-Agatu residents.
Strong indication and consensus has emerged among players and observers of politics in the federal constituency of Apa-Agatu that the nomination of the legal icon by the Governor was not only to bring his enermours wealth of experience to bear in the governance of the state as member of the state executive council but a strategic master stroke aimed at righting the wrongs of previous political decision taken by leaders of APC both in Apa-Agatu local government areas and state political actors that have subsequently put the hethetoe glorious fortunes of the party in Apa-Agatu in a precarious position, disadvantage pedestal and it’s faith hanging in the balance.
Equally worth mentioning is the papable fear that trailed the camp of the main opposition people’s democratic party in the state shortly after the legal practitioner’s name was made public as commissioner nominee was a further testimony of Omale’s political relevance and imprint at the federal constituency.
Omale it was who along side other notable personalities traversed the nooks and crannies of the federal constituency of Apa-Agatu to sow the seed of what is now known as the APC with his personal resources and his hard earn money that gives life and hope to the them opposition parties from the days of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and other likes minded groups that culminated into the merger leading to the eventual birth of APC that took power at the centre from the PDP.
As s former benue state APC Legal Adviser, Barr. Omale single handedly preached and propergated the idea of APC in our clime a development that has earned him such names as planter, bridge builder, buffer and above all a philanthropist of national scale and magnitude.
Omale took the gauntlet on behalf of other critical stakeholders by taking live bullets to sustain the recorded feats of the party by flying the party’s flag in the 2015 general election as house of representatives candidate for Apa-Agatu federal constituency with a superlative performance though with injuries and vestiges of scars on both his right and left hands as well as his pockets occasioned by the though and regorous campaign at the run off and eve of the 2015 election.
The love of the party and the need to further propergate the ideals of APC state wise and wide propelled Barr. Omale with the backing of the youth led by my humble self and benue south party leaders under the guidance of the former senate president Distinguished Senator Ameh Ebute to vie for the state chairmanship of the party, a move hailed by all and Sundry.
Not even the under cover dealings that took away the party chairmanship position from him could damples his resolve to improve the fortunes of the party and saves it from the clouches of godfathers in the State.
He was among the finest brain, best hand and first eleven been put forward by the youth for the ministeirial slot accrued benue state but no thanks to the ethnic political domination of the state by the Tivs in quick succession.
Analyst and pundits including my very self from Apa-Agatu are convinced that the appointment of Barr. Omale Omale into Governor Alia’s cabinate was a sure bet aimed at revatalizing the entire and over all fortune of the party for good as well as restructure and reposition it to winning ways ahead of 2027 general election.
The sidelining and absence of a strong voice and central figure like that of Omale at the stage and at the state level was the harbinger and prelude that caused the humiliating defeat APC suffered in the 2023 election.
Omale as commissioner and leader of Apa-Agatu APC will hit the ground running by embarking on genuine reconciliation, fence mending and soul winning for the party with a view to restructuring the party, revatalizing and revamping it ailing fortune in the federal constituency so as to put it on a winning ways once again.
