Trans-Border Gunrunner, Internet Fraudster Arrested For Duping US Based Nigerian N30m
POLICE detectives attached to Zonal anti- kidnapping unit of Zone 2 Command headquarters onikan, Lagos have arrested an Internet fraudster who dumped a US based Nigerian car dealer of the sum of N30,000,000.00 in the name of buying a Mercedes GL 350 car from her. This is even as a trans-border gunrunner who doubles as a cultist has been arrested by the Zonal police operatives for illegally procuring arms and ammunition from the neighbouring Benin Republic to his fellow cultists in the country.
Sources said the suspects fraudster identified as Joshua Olaosebikan Olawuyi reportedly approached his victims, one Remee Adesuwa Ogizie sometime in 2016, that he wanted to buy a Mercedes GL350 Car valued at the stated sum adding that the vehicle was shipped to him in Nigeria after an agreement was reached and payment made adding that the woman later discovered that the payment was a proceed of fraud money. She was said to have petitioned the AIG Olatoye Durosinmi following which the suspect was nabbed and he confessed to the crime.
On the arrest of the trans-border gunrunner identified as Shokoti Roborth somewhere in Atan, Ogun State, report say his activities had been under watch by detectives following complaints by residents of the area. When he was arrested detectives recovered locally fabricated pistols both from him and his cohorts adding that he confessed that they all belong to Aiye cult group.
He also told detectives that he was getting the guns from the neighbouring Benin Republic.Zonal PRO, SP Ayuba Umma who confirmed the arrest of the suspects said investigation into their activities was on stressing that they would have their day in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
She added, “Based on intelligence at the disposal of the AIG Zone 2 Command, AIG Olatoye Durosinmi about the criminal activities of one Shokoti Roborth ‘m’ a cross boarder gunrunner, a team of Detectives attached to Zonal Strike Force, Onikan Lagos went on a trail and arrested the suspect somewhere in Atan, Ogun State.
Upon search, Two (2) newly manufactured Locally Made Pistols were recovered in his hand bag and thereafter he led the team of detectives to his abode in Atan Township where Two (2) additional Pistols of similar arms were recovered.He confessed to being a member of a cult group known as “Aiye Confraternity ” who has been in the business of smuggling and selling small arms into the country from Benin Republic.
He further confessed to have brought in several arms of such into the country and sold to members of same cult group.Following the arrest of Shokoti Roborth and his confession to the crime, one Ojelade Yusuf ‘m’ was arrested in possession of a Pump Action Gun which he claimed to have bought from his absconding friend. He also confessed to being a member of ‘Aiye Confraternity’. Investigation is ongoing and suspects will be prosecuted accordingly.”
On the fraudster, she said, “Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan Lagos under the leadership of the Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG Olatoye A. Durosinmi, have arrested one Joshua Olaosebikan Olawuyi ‘m’ for obtaining a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 valued Thirty Million Naira (N30,000,000:00k). Based on a petition received from one Adesuwa Remee Ogizie ‘f’ a US based Licensed Car Dealer; that sometimes 2016, one Joseph Olawuyi contacted her to purchase a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 valued at Thirty Million Naira and deceived her stating that he had instructed his brother Jude Hanslem to make payment on his behalf .
That after the vehicle delivered to the suspect in Nigeria; the petitioner discovered that the money paid into her account was proceed of fraud. A team of Detectives attached to Zonal Anti-Kidnapping Unit Zone 2 Command led by SP Abass Gadzama (O/C ZAKU) swung into action, the suspect was arrested and he volunteered his statement where he confessed to the crime, claiming he was into internet fraudster at the time he committed the offence and that the Mercedes Benz GLE 350 has been sold and the proceeds converted. Investigation is ongoing and further findings will be communicated and suspect will be prosecuted accordingly upon completion.”
