Globaltimes OJO BOSS DISBURSES ₦25M TO 500 VULNERABLE RESIDENTS
As a way of providing succour and strengthening small scale businesses, the Executive Chairman of Ojo Local Government, Hon. Rasulu Olusola Idowu has shared ₦25,000,000 to vulnerable residents in the area
The donation, which took place yesterday amidst joy and pleasantries at Ojo multiple-pur pose hall saw 500 residents each receiving ₦50,000 cash alert instantly.
Addressing the large audience who graced the occasion, Rasulu expressed delight that the disbursement came at a critical point in time when the gesture was most needed.
Though, this is not the first palliative initiative organised by the Council under his leadership, different sets of residents have gotten ₦25,000 to ₦100,000 with food items each in the past.
“This idea is part of my administration’s pivotal agenda under the auspices of the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Department to prioritise the needs of the people in different areas apart from delivering social services that is evidently abundant across all the wards in Ojo Local Government”, he stipulated.
In his words, while ensuring that the economy of the country is rejigged with developmental policies, the presidency under the leadership of Ahmed Bola Tinubu has taken the bull by the horn in making sure that the economic situation is stabilised; adding that the disbursement of cash palliative to vulnerable residents is to compliment his effort in this direction.
The beneficiaries which include women, widows, the youth and petty traders were drawn from different communities across the five political wards of Ojo Local Government.
As directed by the Chairman that the 500 names be announced publicly at the occasion by the Public Affairs Unit for transparency and accountability, beneficiaries who got instant bank alerts were utterly amazed and took to the front stage to show evidence of money gotten; they also praised his magnanimity.
The Community Development Committee(CDC) Chairman of Ojo Local Government, Mr Onikoyi Makinde lauded his continuous efforts and big-heartedness, most especially for those who truly needs help at this stage of time.
“As you can see, those who received the largesse are not particularly members of a political party but ordinary Nigerians who are basically from different tribes and tongues; this is an amazing feat that has never been done by any Local Government Chairman and I commend him for that”, Makinde said.
However, the Council boss in his speech noted with due diligence that the implementation of the palliative scheme will go a long way in addressing areas of need and will also strengthen small businesses like those who are involved in petty trading.
“I am also of the firm believe that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu knows which line to tow in implementing policies that is people oriented and in no time, they will begin to see evidence of his assurance in critical areas”, he said.
