For the second time in two years, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos State last Sunday held its annual Christmas Carol tagged Nine Lessons, to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
This year’s event, with its theme” The Christ in You, Hope of Glory” took place at the party Secretariat.
Among dignitaries at the occasion are political bigwigs, party members, the party exco members, state cabinet members led by the representative of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in person of Hon. Ibrahim Layode, Commissioner for Home Affairs, former deputy governors, state and federal lawmakers, wife of Deputy governor, Mrs. Kemi Hamzat, wife of chief of staff to the President, Mrs. Salamotu Gbajabiamila, Council chairmen, traders’ associations, religious and ethnic bodies.
In his opening remarks, the chairman of the party in Lagos State, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, called on Lagosians and Nigerians to love one another and live in peace and harmony.
He noted, “Christmas is not about celebration but also an opportunity to renew our relationship with God, family, and friends.”
Ojelade called on Nigerians and Lagosians to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the THEMES agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, respectively.
He explained further ” Christmas is another season to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches us to love our neighbours as ourselves. This teaches us that there is peace and unity in dwelling together. Christmas is not all about celebration. It is an opportunity to make amends and renew our relationships with God, family, friends, and neighbours. We must love honesty and unconditionally so that we can live in peace. As we move into the New Year, let us love ourselves, our neighbours and our country. Let us also cooperate with our Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the achievement of the THEMES agenda.
The Governor, who was represented by his commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture, Hon. Ibrahim Layode, charged Lagosians to be optimistic and committed to the growth of the state.
He added, “Since we are in the seasons of thanksgiving and praise, we should be united in praising the Most High God.
Sanwo-Olu called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying he meant well for the progress of Nigeria.
Also speaking at the event, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Lagos chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), expressed his happiness for the party’s leadership in organising the Carol.
He prayed for continued God’s guidance on the leaders for the progress of the state.
