Peter Obi Has Retired Wealthy Politicians Across Parties – Reno Omokri Declares Him Nigeria’s Leading Opposition Figure, Outlines Strategies For Future Electoral Victory.
Written By Oshiobugie John-
Renowned author and former presidential aide Reno Omokri has described Peter Gregory Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the last election, as the foremost opposition figure in Nigeria today.
Omokri, a vocal supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made this assertion in a post shared on his Instagram page on Friday, January 3, 2025.
According to Omokri, Obi has emerged as the dominant voice of opposition in Nigerian politics, outshining figures from other opposition parties.
He stated, “Peter Obi is currently the Number One opposition figure in Nigeria. Bar none. Anybody in any opposition party who thinks that he is bigger than Obi right now is just deluded. The man, Obi, is severely flawed, but I admire how he has trudged on despite the obstacles he faces. Some people in one or two opposition parties have already been retired by Obi, but they just don’t know it yet because their money is keeping them on political life support.”
While acknowledging Obi’s resilience and influence, Omokri also highlighted areas where he believes the former Anambra State governor needs to improve to achieve greater political success.
He urged Obi to address perceptions of being overly Igbo-centric, moderate the language used by his supporters, and openly apologise for controversial remarks, including his “Yes Daddy” comment and alleged statements regarding a “religious war.”
Omokri concluded that these issues remain significant hurdles in Obi’s journey to broader acceptance and success on the national stage.
This commentary provides a nuanced view of Obi’s political stature, blending recognition of his achievements with constructive criticism for future growth.
