
River State Police Command have arrested two suspects for stealing NDDC street solar lights along Danjuma Drive, off Trans-Amadi road in Port-Harcourt.
The arrest of Shaibu Yusuf and Ibrahim Abubakar followed credible information, as they were arrested while vandalizing and attempting to steal the Solar Lights.
According to SP GraceIringe-Koko, the Police Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, the police have made a significant breakthrough in combating vandalism with the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects, Shaibu Yusuf (30 yrs) ‘and Ibrahim Abubakar (28 years old) are natives of Gombe and Kastina States respectively but residents at Okuru scrap dump, Abuloma Community, Port- Harcourt.
Items recovered from the suspects include: Solar Light Poles, Solar Light Panels, Solar Light Panel BoltsSolar Light Panel Nuts and knife.
The arrested suspects confessed to being part of a syndicate responsible for vandalizing and stealing Street Solar Lights and manhole covers in the area.
The suspects have been charged to court, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate to face justice accordingly.
This arrest is part of a larger effort to tackle vandalism and theft of Street Solar Lights and manhole covers in the state.
