CPP, PCRC PARTNERS CLEEN FOUNDATION TO FIGHT AGAINST CULTISM, DRUG ABUSE IN IFAKO-IJAYE SCHOOLS

The Crime Prevention Partners (CPP) Ifako-Ijaiye, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Iju Divisional Headquarters in conjunction with CLEEN Foundation Launched a two- day School Campaign against Cultism and Drug Abuse in five (5) secondary schools within Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Council.

These schools are Fagba Junior Grammar School, Station Junior Grammar School, Iju Senior Grammar School, Iju Junior Grammar School and Iju Obawole Junior Grammar School.

The advocacy programme which started on July 6 ended on July 7, 2022 had in convergence students, teachers, PTA executives of the five participating schools and their management team.

The program is aimed at preventing vulnerable and young minds from getting drawn into Serious Organized Crime (SOC).

It was a very interactive sessions where facilitators of different cadres helped discuss broadly on consequences of these illicit activities to their lives and that of mankind.

Mr. Henry Bassey (Chairman POCAVOV) spoke intensively on the Lagos State laws and punishments for cultists and defaulters of drug abuse.

Mrs Blessing Abiri (Coordinator of CLEEN Foundation) in her usual maternal role addressed the students and ensured they paid attention to every bit of the sessions so as to the discussion to have impact on their lives and make them a change agent to the society.

However, Papa Ajasco, the renowned entertainer of the movie Industry, who appeared on the first day spoke to the students on the career benefits of staying away from drugs and cultism. He also used his wide length of success as a case study to further encourage them to stay away from any life spoiler.

Mrs Clara Chukwuma from NDLEA in her wide range of knowledge spoke to the students about the side-effects of drug abuse.

During the advocacy, was a short engaging drama from the students; teaching them the dangers of using drugs and getting involved in cultism.

Earlier, Mr Jude Ndoh (CPP Coordinator/ PCRC AGS, Lagos Command) admonished all and sundry to be proactive and ensure young people are prevented from drugs and Cultism.

He also announced the formation of CPP Club in the 5 schools and promised to work closely with the schools’ counsellors.

The CPP programme in Ifako Ijaiye LG is structured to identify and support those individuals that are at risk or most vulnerable of engaging in SOC with positive alternative pathways.
